Daines Continues Month-Long Summer Vacation While Montanans Desperately Await Additional Relief

Helena, MT – Despite failing to pass additional COVID relief, Senator Steve Daines is off enjoying a month-long summer vacation even as critical needs for Montanans are going unmet – including funding for state and local governments, our schools, the postal service and an extension of emergency unemployment benefits.

While the House of Representatives passed additional pandemic aid three months ago, Daines and his Republican colleagues in the Senate have failed to act. Choosing instead to focus on boosting his reelection effort, Daines left Washington D.C. days ago while Montanans are continuing to confront an unprecedented health and economic crisis.

“Instead of working hard to pass relief for hard-working Montana families, Steve Daines is kicking up his feet,” said MDP Communications Advisor Christina Wilkes. “Montanans deserves a leader who will put their concerns and communities first  but Daines has chosen to put his own political career ahead of his constituents.”
