Daines’ Campaign Says “Voting Record Is What Matters” – So It’s Clear He Prioritizes Wealthy Donors Over Hard-Working Montanans

Helena, MT – This week, Senator Steve Daines’ campaign said his “voting record is what matters here.” We couldn’t agree more – Daines’ history of voting for tax giveaways for the mega-wealthy and massive corporations shows Montanans exactly what he stands for.

In 2017, Daines voted for the Republican tax bill which disproportionately benefits the wealthy – including himself – and massive corporations, and exploded the deficit.

Adding insult to injury, the legislation “could actually make it attractive” for companies to ship jobs overseas. Additionally, Daines voted against a Bring Jobs Home measure that sought to end tax breaks for companies that send jobs overseas and opposed increasing funding for a program that offers benefits to workers who lose their jobs as a result of foreign trade.

“Steve Daines’ record shows who he’s really working for in Washington – special interests and his big-money donors, not hard-working Montanans,” said MDP Communications Advisor Christina Wilkes. “The families of Big Sky Country deserve a champion for them in the Senate, not one who is looking out for the wealthy and well-connected.”
