BREAKING: Daines Misses 23 Votes on Critical Judicial, Foreign Policy Nominations

Helena, MT – As the Senate worked all day Friday into Saturday morning to confirm a slate of nominees for critical judicial and foreign policy positions,  Montana’s junior Senator Steve Daines skipped work, missing all 23 votes.

Daines’ office hasn’t provided an explanation for the Senator’s absence, and Montanans deserve to know: what does Senator Daines think is a better use of his time and taxpayer-funded salary than showing up to do his constitutionally obligated job on behalf of Montanans?

“Daines called being re-elected a ‘great responsibility,’ but apparently his definition of responsibility doesn’t include showing up for work. Montana taxpayers foot the bill for Daines’ salary, and we pay him to do his job representing the Treasure State, not quietly cut his work week short and hope no one notices,” says Sheila Hogan, Executive Director of the Montana Democrats. “Montanans deserve to know: why did you skip work, Steve?”
