As Lawmakers Raise Concerns Over Oracle-TikTok Deal, Daines Remains Loyal to His Tech Friends Who Enriched Him

Helena, MT – This week, a group of Republican Senators wrote a letter raising concerns about the technology giant Oracle’s proposed partnership with the social media platform TikTok. Missing from the letter’s signatories was Senator Steve Daines, who made millions from Oracle when it bought Right Now Technologies in 2011.

Since Daines arrived in Washington D.C., he has remained loyal to his Oracle buddies, using his office “to support legislation and other initiatives for which Oracle spent significant time and money lobbying, and from which the company stood to gain financially.

Oracle has returned the favor, funnelling over $56,000 in campaign contributions” to Daines over his political career, “making the company one of his top 10 contributors.”  Oracle rents office space from Daines’ commercial real estate development in Bozeman. Now, with Oracle’s potential partnership with TikTok, Daines stands to profit off this long-standing relationship.

Instead of fighting for the best interests of hard-working Montanans, Daines is looking out for himself and his corporate allies who made him rich

“Multimillionaire Steve Daines is more interested in helping himself and his corporate allies than he is with doing right by Montanans,” said MDP Communications Advisor Christina Wilkes. “It’s clear that Daines is beholden to his corporate donors, and Montanans pay the price.”
