Meanwhile, Senator Steve Daines is still playing politics with Montana’s public lands. Over the weekend, Daines double-downed on his refusal to support the Blackfoot Clearwater Stewardship Act, Senator Jon Tester’s commonsense, made-in-Montana proposal which would protect tens of thousands of acres of public land, ensure access to recreation opportunities for future generations, bolster Montana’s outdoor economy and boost the local timber industry. Daines continues holding out his support despite Montanans overwhelmingly approving of the measure.
This is just the latest proof point that Daines can’t be trusted to fight for the Montana way of life, and that his recent “conservation conversion” is simply a shameless attempt to rewrite his abysmal record.
“While Governor Bullock fights tirelessly to protect Montana’s public lands and delivers real results, Daines only does so when it benefits his political career,” said MDP Communications Advisor Christina Wilkes. “Montanans need a Senator who fights for their access to public lands every single day – but Daines is too busy looking out for himself.”
