After Gianforte Skipped More Votes than 93% of Congress, His Campaign Says “He’d Do it Again in a Heartbeat”

Helena, MT – Yesterday, Lt. Gov. Cooney called out Greg Gianforte for skipping more votes than 93% of Congress, including critical votes to fund the CDC and other public health agencies. In response, Gianforte’s campaign said, “he’d do it again in a heartbeat.”

Montana’s lone Congressman has blown off votes ranging from critical funding for education, to helping survivors of domestic abuse, to supporting our public health institutions and more. He even skipped a vote to fund the CDC, instead flying to Montana to announce his run for Governor.

Greg Gianforte can’t be bothered to show up for work, even when Montanan lives are on the line. On February 26 – the day after the CDC warned of an almost certain COVID-19 outbreak  – Gianforte walked out of a committee hearing right as Dr. Anthony Fauci, Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar and other top public health officials were set to begin testifying.

“After blowing off his job in Congress to prioritize his own political ambitions, Greg Gianforte’s campaign says he’d do it again in a heartbeat,” said MDP Deputy Communications Director Matt Fidel. “Montana can’t afford to elect No Show Greg to be our No Show Governor.”
