Helena – Apparently, wealthy East Coast developer Matt Rosendale will sign anything that crosses his desk without even bothering to look at it. While he’s come under fire recently for signing real estate tax documents claiming under penalty of perjury that he is a Maryland resident, he claims he didn’t read the form. It turns out, he’s also been following the Koch brothers’ self-serving agenda, voting with them and against Montana 100 percent of the time.
Just like the out-of-state billionaires wanted him to, Rosendale voted against Montana’s bipartisan Disclose Act, which requires dark money groups to disclose their donors and campaign expenditures. Following the Kochs’ lead, Rosendale voted against Montana’s Medicaid Plan, which was a vote against strengthening Montana’s community health centers and against helping veterans fighting drug addiction.
Also in line with the Koch brothers’ wishes, Rosendale wholeheartedly endorsed the tax bill even though it will add $1.5 trillion to our federal deficit and even though he claims to want to cut spending. And just like the Koch brothers, Rosendale is bad for Montana’s schools and students.
Being a loyal follower of the Koch brothers seems like it will pay off for Rosendale, since Koch-backed dark money groups and other out-of-state special interests have already poured more than $1.5 million into the Montana Senate race.
It’s clear Rosendale will continue to vote in lockstep with the Kochs. But Montanans deserve someone who will look out for their best interests, not the interests of out-of-state billionaires and dark money groups.
