Helena—Today, House Democratic Leader Jenny Eck announced that the Democratic caucuses of the state legislature will hold their annual Blue Working Group meeting on May 5 and 6 in Anaconda. The two day event will provide Democratic legislators an opportunity to gather and discuss priorities for the year ahead.
“Democrats stand united in our commitment to fight for working Montana families because we are working Montanans,” said House Democratic Leader Jenny Eck. “The unprecedented enthusiasm we have seen across our state indicates this is going to be a big year for Democrats in Big Sky Country, and our working group will give us the opportunity to discuss the road to the 2019 legislative session.”
In 2018 and beyond, Democrats will continue to fight for a responsible, balanced budget; critical infrastructure projects that create jobs from Glendive to Columbia Falls; increased access to affordable, quality health care for all Montanans; and investments in our state’s children – from pre-K through college – to make sure they get the quality education they need to make a living and build their families in Montana.
Seven years of complete Republican control of the legislature have led to irresponsible fiscal policies that ignored Governor Bullock’s and Democrats’ calls for a balanced budget and a rainy day fund, and led to the first special legislative session since 2007.
